Photographer passes away after freak fall at Andy Murray’s marriage cremony rehearsal

A wedding photographer who was seriously wounded following a freak fall as he addressed the wedding-rehearsal dinner of tennis player Andy Murray and Kim Sears has passed away. Gordon Jack, now 47, was walking backwards as well as he was taking snaps on Friday at Dunblane Cathedral in Scotland when he fell, taking up his head on a grave marker in cemetery next to the twelfth century cathedral.

The photographer was left unconscious and he was taken to a nearby hospital. A witness told a leading newspaper that it was quickly obvious that the man had been injured, with members of the press shouting for help and calling the ambulance.

Andy Murray and Kim Sears tied the knot on Saturday in what was termed as the marriage of the year in Scotland.

Nicola Sturgeon, the fifth and current First Minister of Scotland, who is also the Leader of the Scottish National Party, earlier expressed her condolences via her Twitter account. She tweeted: “Totally devastated to hear about the death of Gordon Jack. A lovely man and a great photographer. My thoughts with his family & colleagues”
On the other hand, NUJ Scotland also expressed their condolences. They tweeted: “Our condolences to the wife and children of Gordon Jack who has died after a fall at Dunblane Cathedral covering Andy Murray’s wedding”
